Improvising Songs

with Voice & Movement

Co-create moving tapestries of sound

Co-create moving tapestries of sound. Shift your perception of voice as something we do, to something we are…

Imagine a space where the walls between voice and body melt away, a space in which song arises from movement, and together, we create music that is wild, sublime, surprising, elemental…

In this workshop, we will journey all the way from our inner somatic landscape to a playful and profound space of movement-based collaboration. We will practice deep listening to the movements of the body, transforming sensation into sound, and opening a channel to express what arises from within. We will explore improvisation that emerges from imaginative, creative movement, and come together to co-create moving tapestries of sound. Shift your perception of voice from something we do, to something we are.

All bodies, voices, sounds and songs are welcome in this space. You do not need prior experience with movement or vocal improvisation. Please wear comfortable clothing you can move in.e welcome in this space. You do not need prior experience with movement or voice improvisation.

A note about The Embodied Voice workshops:

The Embodied Voice is created for those who are interested in exploring their voices in a holistic, body-oriented manner, inviting in the expressive, creative, physical, and emotional aspects of voice. Through attention, experimentation and improvisation, together we create a learning environment where you become the expert on your own body and voice.

While improvement of vocal ability is a central aim of this practice, other outcomes include deeper self-awareness, the functional re-patterning of body and voice habits, improved mental and physical well-being, and ease of creative expression.

  • “By the end of the evening it was as if my body had always known exactly how to improv circle sing… and how to enjoy it. Kate created a strong safe container for us to listen to our own, and each others, authentic voice, Thank you x”

(Dave, From Somatics to Sound to Song)

  • “I have found some CVI intimidating but you held a safe space well, so I was able to let go into my voice. My interest is rekindled!”

(Mike, From Somatics to Sound to Song)

  • “It was such a grounding, healing and fun two hours for me. Your workshops always help me to get out of my head and back into my body, helping me to switch off any anxious thoughts about my voice and letting it just be. Thanks Kate!”

(Lydia, From Somatics to Sound to Song)
