From Somatics to Sound to Singing

1-Off Workshop

Sing freely from a place of mind-body-voice integration

Can we cultivate a healthier relationship with our bodies through singing? Can we discover our authentic voice through allowing the body to speak?

Kate returns to London from Lisbon for this special one-off session of The Embodied Voice.

In this workshop we will explore how to bring somatics into singing, transitioning all the way from exploring specific movements and poses, to improvising collectively with our voices.

In the first half of the workshop we will focus on cultivating a relationship between our voices and bodies that is grounded in functional movement, creating space and ease in the body. We will learn how to improvise freely from a place of body-mind-voice integration.

In the second half of the workshop, we will connect with each other to co-create in the moment, exploring how movement and sounding together can unlock greater freedom and range of expression.

All bodies, voices, sounds and songs are welcome in this space. You do not need prior experience with movement or voice improvisation.

Spaces are limited to 8 people.

A note about The Embodied Voice workshops:

The Embodied Voice is created for those who are interested in exploring their voices in a holistic, body-oriented manner, inviting in the expressive, creative, physical, and emotional aspects of voice. Through attention, experimentation and improvisation, together we create a learning environment where you become the expert on your own body and voice.

While improvement of vocal ability is a central aim of this practice, other outcomes include deeper self-awareness, the functional re-patterning of body and voice habits, improved mental and physical well-being, and ease of creative expression.

  • “Kate was fantastic. Exuberant, generous, kind, inspiring and helpful.”

  • “Kate has helped me revisit the body-mind. Her practical exercises are a very useful toolkit which applies to any kind of situation where one has to express themselves through the voice.”

  • “Allowing myself to feel joy in my body and therefore my voice! I had been feeling creatively and vocally “stuck”/stressed about how I was creating sound, and through these workshops I’ve found lightness, fun, and joy again - it’s less of a battle. Embodied Voice = harmony between body + sound, thinking with my body and feeling aware of how it supports me!”
