Voice & Movement Meditations in Lisbon

Drop into a unique space of

mind - body - voice connection

"The watchful heart is a listening heart

That’s the empty space beneath the breath

Where everything real emerges"

- David Whyte

A creative alternative to seated meditation, this practice melts distinctions between mind, body, and voice.

Bringing together somatic awareness and breath exercises with gentle yoga asanas and movement meditations, we will explore how the voice feels and sounds in our body while we move.

Welcoming the spirit of curiosity and non-judgement, there is no right or wrong way to sound, only the discovery of what arises within the mindbody in the present moment.

  • "During the class, I felt I could really embody myself in a natural way. I didn’t feel like I was struggling to adapt to a class or really intense constructs of how my body is supposed to move or how my voice is supposed to sound. I felt incredibly free, but also peaceful at the same time. Thank you!"

What does the science say?

Many meditative and spiritual practices incorporate singing or chanting, and for good reason. The science is clear - the voice is a powerful tool for calming the nervous system. When we sound from a place of gentleness and soothing, we stimulate the vagus nerve, turning up the para-sympathetic nervous system, and easing us into a state of rest and digest.

When we combine singing with mindful awareness of movement and sensation within our bodies, we begin to develop our interoception, a lesser known sense that refers to the feeling of what is going on inside our bodies. Sounding purely for ourselves and the enjoyment of our embodied experience of vibration and movement helps us regulate our well-being, manage our stress responses, and attune to our emotions.
