Circle Singing and Vocal Improvisation with Kate
A social evening of moving, sounding and creating together though playful forms and games.
In this supportive and playful space of non-judgement, the voice and the body are explored in an energetic and conscious environment, through creativity and improvisation.
The session will begin with warm up games and exercises designed to foster the body/voice connection, unlock authentic and easeful sounding. We’ll then dive into a seamless blend of circle singing and collaborative vocal improvisation.
Circle singing is a collaborative musical practice where a facilitator leads participants in the creation of improvised songs using vocal loops. Through layering melodies, rhythms, bass lines and harmonies, the song constantly transforms. Through intuitive signs and conducting, singers may also contribute their own unique expressions into the creative process.
Drawing on diverse vocal traditions, circle singing offers a safe and playful space for individuals to engage in spontaneous musical dialogue, regardless of their skill level, promoting joyful connection and sense of community.
