Singing Outdoors in Stroud
I’ve just returned from Stroud where I spent a glorious weekend sounding and moving with a beautiful group of humans. I truly feel so grateful to everyone who joined because, while I hold the space and create the containers for the work, the real alchemy occurs in the bodies and the hearts of those present and how they choose to share of themselves with each other.
We went to some deep places together rather quickly - touching on the nature of self, our connection with each other and nature, our blockages, and our griefs. This is what I love about embodied work - after each somatic flow experience I would ask people “What did your body tell you?” and invariably, the body has a lot to say that is really interesting! And relevant for every day life! And relevant to the big questions! Isn’t is fascinating to be alive?
I’d have to say that my favourite part of each day was definitely the sessions out of doors. For an hour and a half after lunch, we would venture onto the Heavens. No one was allowed to speak, although after the first silent walk section, I directed plenty of singing or sounding tasks. It was quite trippy how moving through nature silently with a group of humans just snaps you into another way of being. The lessons were rich and varied and embodied and beautiful.
The word I take away with me this weekend is “gift”. It came up regularly for me, and I suppose it captures how much gratitude I feel for having found this practice, for everything I receive from it, and for the trust that people give me to take them on the journey with me.
Thank you to everyone who came! And hopefully I’ll be back again soon :)
Some words from the participants:
“Some kind of very relaxed alchemy - quite a journey but it felt like it flowed quite effortlessly”
“Warm and inviting, rich and delicate”
“Permission to explore and create. Time to be me. Connection with others both human and other. FUN. PLAY. TRIBE”
