Special 6-Week Progressions for 1-1 Lessons
I’m back this fall with a fresh twist on my private 1-1 and small-group teaching. As I am not your traditional voice teacher, for some it can be a little hard to get their heads around exactly what a Embodied Voice lesson is (or can be). So to help people understand some of what I do - I decided to create 4 different pathways which address potential areas of confusion or interest, from my own “embodied” perspective.
Meet my Special 6-Week Progressions!
Over 6 weeks, we’ll use a comprehensive, holistic approach to integrating voice and body, via different access points or fields of interest. The first is “Voice for Yogis”, followed by “Support”, then “Posture” and finally “Improvisation”. In each of these pathways, we’ll address important features of the body-mind-voice that are often overlooked, under-appreciated or misunderstood.
Check out each Pathway to discover what’s in store.
(And as a side note - of course, these being 1-1 and small group lessons, we will always be flexible according to your needs and your goals. I don’t adopt a top-down model of teaching, instead I co-create the lesson with you, because you are unique and you are the best expert on you!)
While geared towards different aspects of voice practice, and tailored to specific questions or interests, all of these progressions tackle similar issues.
We will work to improve your vocal technique and ease of movement - we’re working with the body’s systems here, tuning into our innate body wisdom, learning about our anatomy, our functions, our evolutionary biology, as well as how we learn
But we’re also learning to get out of our own way - yes, we are building comprehension, knowledge, but we’re also gaining direct experience of ourselves, what our body already does, and how it can do sound and movement with more ease and efficiency. It’s an intellectual learning paired with what is wordless, what is inherent, what has always been known but just forgotten
Unlearn unhelpful habits of movement and mind - let go of the urge to control, to judge, to objectify - the best way to learn is through play, listening, experimentation.
Be better to yourself! Take care of your body, your emotions, and your creative, expressive self!
If any of these progressions spark your curiosity, then send me a message/email and we can talk about how to get started! You can sign up for all 6 weeks right off the bat (which means you also get a nice discount!), or you can do the first lesson as a trial and continue if the approach feels right to you. And as always, I have a sliding scale for those on low-income, no questions asked.
My new term starts September 14th so get in touch ASAP. I’m so excited to hear from you!
